Kings College Celebrates Improved Exam Results

We are delighted to say that our partners at Kings College Guildford have come in the top 3 most improved schools in the county. The school is excelling in the progress made by their students since joining the secondary school. Kings is also in the top 3% for the most improved academic performance in England.

We have had the pleasure of working closely with Kings over the last two years. We are currently in our second residency at the school, which allows us to support the English department over the academic year and run workshops with every single one of their students. Kings have also been an integral part of our Secondary Schools Tour, with their GCSE groups watching performances of Macbeth, before studying scenes with the cast.

Kings College achieved excellent GCSE results in 2019.  The proportion of students achieving a grade 4 at English GCSE rose from 54% to 74% and the number achieving a 5 rose from 28% to 51%. This is an astonishing increase and we are delighted to have played a small part in their success.

“I am immensely proud of our school community today. Like all schools, Kings has its challenges, but the moment you step into one of our classrooms you are buoyed by the children’s appetite for learning and the positive relationships they have with the staff who guide them.” Alastair McKenzie, Principal of Kings College Guildford

We can testify to the hard work of the Kings College staff and look forward to our continued partnership. As part of our residency, this year, we have already delivered performances of The Tempest, A Midsummer Night’s Dream and Romeo and Juliet. Later this term, we will be returning with many more workshops, including an Actor’s Roundtable on Macbeth and a Rehearsal Masterclass for their school production of A Midsummer Night’s Dream.

Congratulations to everyone at Kings College!
