"My fairy tales were as much for older people as for children... humour was the real salt in them"

Grimms' Fairy Tales 2016 (c) Steve Porter

Andersen's fairy tales are some of the most-loved stories we have all grown up enjoying: The Ugly Duckling, The Little Match-Girl, The Emperor's New Clothes, The Snow Queen, The Princess and the Pea, The Little Mermaid, Thumbelina, The Tinder-Box... the list is endless, and their delight continues.

For our final show of 2020, we're creating a brand new stage adaptation of a collection of these magical tales. You'll be sure to find some of your favourites and some brand new ones to fall in love with.

GSC's Associate Playwright Ant Stones will be following his popular adaptions of Grimms' Fairy Tales,The Wind in the Willows, and Alice in Wonderland, with this new commission.

Much of the show it still under wraps as we develop our ideas, but we're thrilled to be returning to the wonderful St Nicolas' Church, which played host to 2019's All's Well That Ends Well. We'll be harnessing the church's intimate Victorian heritage to bring these classic fantasy stories colourfully to life for all ages.

Further details of the company and the show will be announced later in the year.
