THE MERCHANT OF VENICE 2011
14 - 23 July
We had long wished to use the gardens of the College of Law in Guildford, and after a long period of planning we were very excited to bring Shakespeare’s legal drama to this most apt of settings.
Set in the 1930s, with a speakeasy atmosphere, Charlotte Conquest deftly weaved the comic and tragic together for very poignant telling of The Merchant of Venice. The famous trial scene was staged in front of the Law College Manor House.
For the next 7 years, GSC made these gardens their summer home.
