THE HOUSETRAP 2-22 December

ABOUT

This Christmas, Guildford Shakespeare Company invite you to a 1920s Murder Mystery staged in a real country house, West Horsley Place.

Written by Eleanor Murton | Directed by Natasha Rickman

It’s December 1922, and nestled in the tranquil countryside is the home of the recently married Sir Robert Montague… but when his wife’s body if found at the foot of the stairs and a snowstorm cuts everyone off from the outside world, tensions come to the fore, secrets are revealed and suddenly everyone is caught in… The Housetrap!

Styled in the vein of the golden age of detective writing, you'll begin your adventure in the elegant Drawing Room. In between scenes, you'll be divided into groups and invited to explore different rooms of the manor to interrogate the suspects first-hand. Throughout the evening you will return to the Drawing Room to watch next episode in the mystery.

Brought to you by the same team behind last year’s ‘runway’ success Boeing, Boeing, Gone!, GSC invites you to join them in the gorgeous surroundings of West Horsley Place (aka Button House in BBC TV's Ghosts), for another fun and interactive Murder Mystery.

Places are strictly limited so make sure you book soon… it would be a crime to miss it!

YOUR CAST

We are incredibly excited to introduce the wonderful cast of The Housetrap!

Earlier this year Hayden was at Shakespeare's Globe playing Romeo and has previously won Best Male Supporting Actor at the 2022 Black British Theatre Awards for the offie-nominated play Passion Fruit. He's also appeared in a number of GSC's schools' tours.

We're delighted to welcome Daisy for her first GSC show. Daisy graduated from LAMDA this summer and will be seen early next year in the new BBC/Netflix series of Call the Midwife.

Familiar faces to many GSC audiences, Rosalind and Robert have appeared in numerous shows for us over the last 12 years. Rosalind was in our last Murder Mystery Boeing, Boeing Gone! before spending the summer with Shakespeare's Globe in the Richard III company. Robert's last shows with us were She Stoops To Conquer and As You Like It in the summer of 2021. He's most recently been working at Grosvenor Open Air Theatre in Chester, appearing in The Importance of Being Earnest and the stage premier of The Gangs of New York.
