ROMEO & JULIET 2010
5 - 20 February
Our 4th year started with our first indoor season and our first performance of Romeo and Juliet. Since 2008 we had been in talks with Holy Trinity Church on Guildford High Street about staging a play in this magnificent building.
We knew that this wonderful and atmospheric venue would allow us to explore more of Shakespeare’s plays that would seem more suited to an indoor setting. It also meant we could use lighting for the first time!
Director Charlotte Conquest returned to set Shakespeare’s great love story in the period in which the church was built, whilst Mary McAdam composed a haunting beautiful choral arrangement of the opening chorus of the play.
Despite the incredibly heavy snow, it proved to be hugely popular, becoming our most popular show at that time. It also introduced us to Caroline Devlin who worked as Charlotte’s assistant director!
"Seething with emotion and raw passion…every bit as good as [their] comedy triumphs of the summer” Surrey Advertiser
