SHE STOOPS TO CONQUER 11 - 27 June
In June we'll back in the beautiful Guildford Castle Gardens with Oliver Goldsmith's sublime Georgian romantic romp.
First performed in 1773, She Stoops to Conquer takes place over the course of a single night, when a young buck called Marlow is led to believe that his prospective bride's rural family home (a family he has never met by the way), is in fact a country inn! Full of ludicrous mischief, misunderstandings and a gallery of outrageous characters, She Stoops to Conquer promises a glorious evening of fun and laughter.
AS YOU LIKE IT 10 - 25 July
Arguably Shakespeare’s happiest play, As You Like It will be staged at a brand new GSC venue, Gosden House in Bramley.
When Rosalind is banished by her usurping uncle, she seeks sanctuary in the Forest of Arden. Here, disguised as boy, not only does she meet the man of her dreams but also finds herself match-maker to three wedding couples. The beautiful walled garden and orchards of Gosden House will provide the perfect backdrop for Shakespeare's enchanting Forest Arden. Join them for a celebration of human nature’s desire to forgive and forget, to love and to laugh.
THE TALES OF HANS CHRISTIAN ANDERSEN 16 October - 7 November
For our final show of 2020, we're creating a brand new stage adaptation of a collection of Hans Christian Anderson's most magical tales. You'll be sure to find some of your favourites and some brand new ones to fall in love with... and we're back in the beautiful St Nicolas' Church on Bury Street.
