2009
“ A truly memorable evening in a truly magical setting ” British Theatre Guide
“Guildford Shakespeare Company are magic.” Surrey Advertiser
“It's so obvious that the actors enjoy what they are doing; and the song and dance routine encore was tremendous fun. Well done GSC.” David Hughes-Hallett, audience member
“ What an awesome production. I have never been a fan of Shakespeare ...[but] not even the driving rain on the Saturday afternoon could distract me. It was a brilliant interpretation and I'm wholly looking forward to the next one." Amanda Bleakley, audience member
For the second play in our 2009 Season we were delighted to welcome back director Joanna Read who, with designer Neil Irish, transported our audiences back to England in the 1920s, giving this rarely performed play an elegant Brideshead Revisited feel.
Our cast were joined on stage by two wonderful dogs who shared the part of Crab the dog, and we even received permission to use a rowing boat on the enchanting university lake!
