The Mayor's Charity Lantern Walk

Thursday 18th October 2007

Guildford Shakespeare Company  were asked to perform

excerpts from two of Shakespeare's greatest plays as one of

the spectacles for the Mayor of Guildford's Charity Lantern Walk.

From the prestigious Guildhall Balcony, Romeo & Juliet replayed

their famous midnight encounter, whilst at various locations around

Guildford Castle, Henry V laid siege to Harlfleur and later roused his
‘Band of Brothers' for the Battle of Agincourt.

The event, ‘a two-mile walk back in time', raised over £12,000
for The Fountain Centre at St Luke's RSCH. It supports over
2,500 cancer sufferers a year, providing a caring environment
along with advice and information for patients newly diagnosed
with cancer.
